On Thursday, June 19, before TLPA’s Jāņi celebration, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to officially open the Latvian Canadian Cultural Centre’s new elevator and accessibility ramp.
This major improvement was made possible by a $150,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Opening remarks were delivered by Don Valley East MPP Dr. Adil Shamji and Latvian Centre president Lionel Zondo.
The ribbon was cut by Dr. Shamji together with TLPA (Toronto Latvian Pensioners’ Association) president Ivars Mikelšteins.
