Canada’s Mother’s day goes back to 1907 when American school teacher Anna Jarvis organized the first Mother’s Day in honour of her own late mother. In 1915, this day also became an official holiday in Canada and Canadians have since then celebrated this special day.

What is May 4 and the White Table Celebration?
The anniversary of the declaration of independence of the Republic of Latvia is celebrated on 4 May, in Latvia and elsewhere in the world. On May 4, 1990, 138 of the 201 deputies of the Supreme Council adopted a declaration “on restoration of independence of the Republic of Latvia”, reordering a new – white – page in the history of Latvia. Celebrating this remarkable event, in honour of the restoration of independence of Latvia’s state, the White Table Table Festival is also celebrated as families come together for a festive feast at a white tablecloth-covered festival table.
